Area Head and Lead Researcher of the Geophysics and Subsurface Geology Group (GEOFSUB) at CN IGME-CSIC. His lines of work are related to Tectonics, Applied Geophysics and Marine Geology. He is currently collaborating with the State Research Agency as Coordinator of the Polar Research Subarea. His research focuses on the integral study of the geodynamic evolution of the Scotia Arc (Antarctica) and the margins of Iberia and the Betic Cordillera. He has participated in 43 research projects of the Spanish National Research Programme, the Framework Programme of the European Commission, led 9 of them. He has carried out 15 oceanographic cruises, 4 as cruise leader. Member of the Spanish delegation in the UN in the technical meetings for the Extension of the Spanish Continental Shelf (2006-2007). National delegate of the Antarctic Seismic Data Library System (SCAR). Member of the editorial committee of the International Bathymetric Chart of the Southern Ocean SCAR/GEBCO. Alternate national representative on the European Polar Board. Former member of the Geosciences section of the National SCAR Committee. Member of the Applied Geophysics Section of the National Commission of Geodesy and Geophysics.
