Ioan Munteanu received his BSc in Eng. Geology and MSc in Basin Analysis from the University of Bucharest, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the Utrecht University, with his focus on the Black Sea Basin kinematics and evolution. He has more than 15 years experience in the O&G industry, having started in 2005 in Rompetrol and moved to Repsol in 2013. He worked in Romania, Bulgaria, UK and Russia teams, where he coordinated different projects from seismic interpretation, to gravity and magnetics modelling, to reserves calculation and booking. Ioan was also involved in the Dacia CCS project. He is specialized in structural geology, tectonics, seismic interpretation, hydrocarbon exploration, basin analysis. In 2007 he became an Assistant Professor at University of Bucharest. Currently he is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, Bucharest, teaching courses at BSc and MSc levels like: Basin Analysis, Petroleum Geology, Seismic Stratigraphy, Petroleum Exploration; and coordinator for BSc and MSc projects and IBA competition.
