Monument “El Malacate”, Nerva (Huelva)

Castillete built in the Rotinto-Nerva mining area for the extraction of ore by undergroung mining.

In Spain, after centuries of mining activity, a rich mining and metallurgical heritage has been generated. An example of this is the castilletes, structures located above the borehole that formed part of the vertical transport system. In addition to researching mineral resources, the IGME promotes activities related to the study, inventory, protection and conservation of our country's Mining Heritage.
