Fardes River Valley Paleontological Station

The Valle del Río Fardes Paleontological Station is a field infrastructure belonging to the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), where Research, Dissemination and Teaching activities are integrated around the site of large mammals from the early Pleistocene of Fonelas P-1 . The first phase of this station, the Fonelas P-1 Paleontological Center, was built in 2013 to safeguard the paleontological heritage that this site houses, as well as to facilitate research and outreach activities in the field.

History of Earth and Life

In the idea of ​​complementing the informative discourse, and to support teaching, at the Fardes River Valley Paleontological Station we have selected content, designed and included a new informative module in the visit to the Fonelas P-1 Paleontological Center: Informative module History of Earth and Life.
 

P-1 Fonelas Paleontological Center

Dedicated to the study and research, dissemination and teaching of geology, in its aspects of paleontology, taphonomy, paleoecology and paleoclimatology, stratigraphy and sedimentology, being the paleontological site of large Quaternary mammals.

Visits

The Fonelas P-1 Paleontological Center is a scientific-technical facility of the Fardes River Valley Paleontological Station (IGME), which is open to visitors since scientific dissemination is an essential activity for us.
It is a center in a scientific field station, where different types of activities are carried out throughout the year, so your visit has special conditions.
