The information used to compile the database, which contains more than a hundred palaeoinundation records, was compiled from approximately 70 journal articles, books and technical reports.

In Spain, during the last 25 years, considerable efforts have been devoted to the compilation of paleoflood records in several regional databases, among which Paleotagus (1997-1999) or SPHERE-GIS (1999-2003) are outstanding. However, to date, there is no database that brings together at national level the records collected in the scientific-technical literature, including all types of paleofloods and their paleohydrological data.
