Hugo Matias received his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Geophysics from the University of Lisbon (Faculty of Sciences) and a Post-Graduation in Oil and Gas Business (UAL/Inst. Français Petrol). He has 20+ years’ experience in the O&G industry. Hugo started his career in 1997 with PARTEX OIL AND GAS working in projects in Kazakhstan and the Middle East. He joined REPSOL in 2005 with international project management positions in several countries, where he directly supervised multi-disciplinary/multicultural teams and co-managed a cumulative budget of +500 million USD.
In 2020 he joined CERENA (IST-University of Lisbon) as Colaborator and Associated Professor. In the last 5 years, he co-organized several international conferences and served as a member of several Scientific Committees and as Scientific Reviewer in International Journals. He has extensive experience as course instructor, researcher in international projects and published widely in international scientific journals (18 papers published).
