Senior Scientist at CN IGME-CSIC. He has developed his entire professional career at the CN IGME-CSIC since he joined it as a research fellow in 1984. From 2013 to 2021 he held the position of Head of the Geology, Geomorphology and Geological Cartography Area. Throughout his professional career he has leaded and participated in numerous geological, geomorphological and active process mapping projects, both on the Iberian Peninsula and in South America and Antarctica, including the 1.25.000 scale mapping programme of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. Her main research lines are stratigraphy, sedimentology and basin analysis and sedimentary and climatic events of the Palaeocene and Eocene and the geodynamic evolution of the Basque-Cantabrian Basin and the Pyrenean orogen. Its management and research work is coordinated with its vocation for dissemination, the result of which is the development of informative geological maps of protected natural areas GEONATUR and the book titled “Cambios climáticos” (2015).
