Research Scientist at CN IGME-CSIC and Adjunnct Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid since 2003. His lines of work are related to Structural Geology and Marine Geology. He has participated in 25 oceanographic cruises around the Iberian Peninsula and Antarctica, and in 65 research projects, of which he has leaded thirteen of them, funded by the Spanish National Research Programme, the European Commission Framework Programme and the IGME. He was a member of the Subcommission for the Delimitation of the Continental Shelf of the Interministerial Commission on International Maritime Policy for the Extension of the Spanish Continental Shelf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2003 and of the EuroGeoSurveys Marine Geology Expert Group from 2010 to 2019. He has been the coordinator of the IGME-CSIC Spanish Exclusive Economic Zone Working Group team since 2003, a member of the Spanish Delegation to the Council and Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) since 2016, and an elected member of the ISA Legal and Technical Commission since 2017.
