Raquel Martín Banda holds a permanent position as a Senior Technical Specialist (Técnico Superior Especialista) at the Geological Survey of Spain (IGME). Her research activity is focused on paleoseismicity and active tectonics, geomorphological and structural mapping, as well as on the characterization of seismic sources in the SE Spain (Eastern Betic Shear Zone). A little over a year ago, she received her PhD degree with the doctoral thesis Segmentation and recent evolution of the Fault System of the Carrascoy Range (Murcia): implications on its seismic potential. She is also one of the technical and scientific editors of the Quaternary active faults (QAFI, info.igme.es/qafi) and seismogenic zones (ZESIS, info.igme.es/zesis) databases of Iberia. She is part of the research team for projects characterizing sismogenic sources in others Iberian areas (NSOURCES - PID2020-119772RB-I00, financed by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033) or in others geodynamic context, as the South American plate in the framework of an agreement with the Colombian Geological Service. She combines this research activity with the coordination, design and implementation of the GIS and management of the geological works in the Kalahari Basin for the PLANAGEO project (National Geology Plan of Angola) from UTEPLANAGEO company (IGME, LNEG and IMPULSO, S.A) since December 2014 to August 2020, date on which she became part of the permanent staff of the IGME.
