Descripción del proyecto
The RiverLink project aims to establish and sustain a robust, pan-European collaborative network dedicated to advancing the fields of fluvial geomorphology, sediment and wood transport. By uniting the extensive expertise and rich experience of researchers from a multitude of European institutions—partners with whom CSIC researchers have a history of successful collaboration—this initiative will create a dynamic platform for sharing fieldwork insights and exchanging advanced methodological knowledge. The focus will be on monitoring sediment and large wood transport in fluvial corridors, as well as on data analysis techniques. The overarching objective is to prepare a comprehensive project proposal, positioning us favourably for future European funding opportunities.
Objetivos
The goals of the project are:
- Establish and Strengthen Collaboration: Develop a dynamic network of European researchers specialized in fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, and wood transport, fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange.
- Facilitate Technical Knowledge exchange: Promote the sharing of best practices for monitoring active fluvial processes through joint activities, including, workshops and field visits, as well as meeting hands-on to analyze the obtained data
- Enhance Research Capabilities: Create a collaborative environment to improve the methodologies and capabilities for studying and modelling sediment and wood transport during floods, and their impacts on river morphology.
- Prepare for Future Funding: Build a strong foundation for submitting competitive project proposals to European funding programs, ensuring the network´s long-term sustainability and impact.
