After careful consideration we have made the decision to postpone the X International ProGEO Symposium. We will update this page with any relevant information.

Scientific Programme

The purpose of the symposium is to discuss about new challenges and opportunities involved in geoconservation and its gradual globalization. The scientific programme will include:

  • three days of oral presentations and poster sessions,
  • a invited speaker for the plenary session,
  • a half-day intra-meeting itinerary on Urban geoheritage in Segovia.
  • specific sessions, group meetings and workshops

The Symposium will complete the scientific programme with optional activities including:

  • three fieldtrips (pre- and post-symposium),
  • an intensive short course on Geoheritage Interpretation
  • the post-symposium 1st Workshop on Geoheritage of Volcanic Islands (see specific section of the Symposium web for more information).

Oral presentations and poster sessions

Due to the limited time for oral sessions, the scientific committee will decide how many abstract of those recived will be presented orally and wich by poster format. The time slot allocated for the abstracts presentation will be:

  • 15 min for oral presentation (10 min talk and 5 min for discussion), or
  • 3 min for poster presentation (poster format: A0 portrait)

Themes for plenary sessions include:

Post-Symposium publication

  • A special volume of the journal Geoheritage will be prepared with contributions selected by the Scientific Committee.
  • Abstracts accepted but not presented at the Symposium may be published in a special issue of ProGEO News

Social Programme

  • On Monday 8th June, we will enjoy a welcoming icebreaker party and an street cultural activity in the main town called “International stone soup enlivened with tales and legends from the Earth”. Please, if you are interested in participate contact with us at progeo2020@igme.es
  • On Thursday 11th, we will have the Symposium farewell dinner.
  • There will be other activities announced as they are confirmed.

For accompanying persons:
  • There will be a guided tour around the city to visit the most representative monuments and historical sites of the city including the aqueduct, the Jewish quarter, the cathedral, and the Main Square.
  • There will be a visit to the medieval village of Pedraza.
