With
the purpose of contributing to the prevention and
mitigation of the geological hazards, natural or induced
by human activities, IGME keeps a line of consistent
performance in the execution of studies and projects.
These studies develop methodologies and investigation
of geological risks and valuation of hazards, cartography
of geological hazards and the characterization and
modelling of the geological and geotechnical potentially
damaging processes. |
During
the year 2001 IGME has maintained its growing international
projection in the field of the geological hazards,
especially in Latin America, without losing its character
of national reference. In this meaning, it is necessary
to point out that the Ministry of Environment has
designated IGME as the National Centre of Reference
of Natural Hazards, within the frame of the net EIONET
of the Environment European Agency. |
