15th Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences

Half day short courses and Workshops will be organized during the Conference (5 September 2013).

Participants are expected to bring their own laptop. Workshops or short courses will start at 15.00 and will be held at the Conference Venue.

The minimum number of participants (10) must be pre-registered to hold the course.

Short courses pre-registration deadline extended for an extra three weeks until 30 June 2013.

If the minimum number of pre-registrations will be achieved participants will receive a confirmation e-mail.

AN INTRODUCTION TO COMPOSITIONAL DATA ANALYSIS
Prof. Dr. Egozcue, Juan José (Technical University of Catalonia, Spain) and Prof. Dr. Pawlowsky-Glahn, Vera (University of Girona, Spain)

The course will cover the basic principles and methods of compositional data analysis, and introduce those attending to analysing data with CoDaPack and to the interpretation of obtained results. The course will combine theoretical lectures with hands-on practical analysis of data with CoDaPack.

Recommended prerequisites:

·        standard univariate statistical analysis

·        basic knowledge in multivariate statistics

·        introductory courses on analysis and algebra

·        experience with standard software: MS-Excel, SPSS, Minitab, or similar

HOW TO WRITE AN ACADEMIC PAPER AND GET IT SUCCESSFULLY PUBLISHED!

This is a 2 hr workshop for authors, looking at how to write an academic paper and get it successfully published in an academic journal such as Computers & Geosciences. It is particularly suitable for early-career researches (Masters, PhD, early Post Doc).
