Research Line

Paolo Allasia is a research technological scientist on the Research Institute for Hydrogeological Prevention and Protection of Italian National Research Council. In the Geohazard Monitoring Group, develop and project complex monitoring networks for landslides, buildings etc. He works in the analysis of data acquired from integrated monitoring systems, with particular attention to measurement’s confidence level and relative errors. Concerning the monitoring of superficial slope instability phenomena, he contributes in the design and development of specific software to process large datasets acquired in near-real time. He is also the referent for inclinometric measurements, and coordinated the development of the Automated Inclinometric System (AIS). In the field of surface displacement monitoring with contactless approach, he developed a system based on image processing techniques. The experience gained in the field of control of landslides using advanced technology (terrestrial, aerial, UAV), has also allowed him to develop themes research aimed at developing specific software for handling big volumes of data acquired in near real time. During the EU LAMPRE project, in cooperation with IGME, he has installed and managed an AIS in the Portalet landslide with very interesting results.
